Simple BBQ Burger Recipe

There’s something undeniably satisfying about grilling up some delicious burgers on a warm summer day. Add in BBQ sauce and amazing sides, and your backyard BBQ goes to the next level. The foundation of any great burger starts with the patty. While there are countless variations, oftentimes a simple blend of high-quality ground beef produces a deliciously basic recipe.

Now, if you’re looking for a smoky and sweet flavor to add, then barbecue sauce is a must anywhere, anytime. With so many options for sauces or rubs, feel free to experiment with different brands or flavors. You might be surprised with what you find.

We’re offering up a simple and classic recipe that’s easy to follow, packed with flavor, and can be customized to suit you and your burger-loving friends’ needs.

Ingredients

The amount of these ingredients may vary depending on how many burgers you’ll be making, but we’ll offer up measurements for about four patties.

You’ll need:

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Hamburger buns (the type is totally up to you)
  • Any toppings you see fitting, including lettuce, tomato, cheese (any kind), pickles, onion

Instructions

One of the great things about a BBQ burger is that how it’s made varies from person to person. Sometimes you gotta give it some of your own TLC.

For a simple BBQ burger, here’s one way to prepare it:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Gently mix together.
  1. Divide the mixture into four equal patties and shape them to your desired thickness.
  1. Grill the patties for three to five minutes per side over medium to high heat, or until they reach your desired temperature. (If you don’t have a grill, cooking your patties on a skillet over medium to high heat will also get the job done.)
  1. Place one of your cooked patties on a hamburger bun and top with lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickles, and onion. Don’t forget to smother it with some more delicious BBQ sauce.
